Great News!!
Sandra Young from Florida has been a very good friend to
HHERO. She donated a show horse to a child in Vermillion Parish at Christmas
while we were working Hurricane Rita relief.

OUR GOAL: $ 200,000
CURRENT TOTAL: $
5,150
We will raise the funds to purchase a 25-50 acre farm in 2006. We are seeking
corporate sponsors and have a program set up to acknowledge the contributions.
We will have a "Wall of Honor" set up to thank the major contributors towards
our goal. See Apple Tree for
more info...
(We also have a temporary "Virtual Apple
Tree" to recognize our contributors until we get the real tree.) The corporate
sponsorship will be needed to help us get to our goal, but we also need YOU!.
Even the smallest donation is one step towards our goal. No donation is small in
our eyes. In our organization, it has always been the individual efforts that
have gotten things done. So, if you can help us, please do! Help us build an
even better horse rescue organization, and continue the rebuilding of broken
spirits.
When you donate, be sure to indicate if the
donation is for regular expenses or the Farm Fundraiser. As always, All
donations are tax deductible.

Hopeful Haven is Looking for Land!
Since its inception in 1999, HHERO has developed a network of
foster homes for the care and rehabilitation of the horses that have come into
its program. This network of foster homes has worked well for the Organization,
and all those who have been involved in any manner can be proud of the work that
has been done.
To date, this organization has rehabilitated and found homes
for 45 horses. However, due to increased awareness that the organization exists,
and further involvement with the Livestock Brand Commission and Sheriff's
Departments in North Louisiana, its ability to manage the upkeep and welfare of
the horses has become increasingly difficult. As of this writing, HHERO has 26
horses in the program. (Over half the total number of horses placed in the last
seven years!) The logistics of caring for these equines have become more
difficult.
As HHERO supplies feed, hay, vet and farrier care for the
horses in its care, a centralized site for the care of these animals has become
a priority. Getting the feed and hay to all the different foster home locations
has become increasingly problematic. When shots or vet care is required, it may
require trips to separate
locations. The same is true for the farrier. It would be easier and more
cost effective to have a ranch where all the horses could be seen in one
visit.
Another reason to have all our horses in one location is for
the potential adoption parent's ability to visit the facility and see the
horse he/she is interested in. Currently, arrangements have to be made with
the foster home for viewing/visiting.
Finally, a central location will also allow for the
participation of volunteers. Many times we have been approached by
people who would love to help clean stalls, groom, and perform other tasks.
A facility would allow such volunteerism. Local 4-H groups could participate
with us as well as other planned visits by school groups. As you can
see, HHERO is growing! This is an exciting time, as this could be the
foundation for a premiere horse rescue organization!
